Artificial Urethral Sphincters

HSP AUS DIMENSIONS

HSP Artificial Urethral Sphincters (AUS) are designed specifically to provide long-term relief of sphincter mechanism incontinence found in cats and dogs which are unresponsive to medical management. The AUS cuff is placed around the proximal urethra and filled with variable amounts of saline to provide mechanical obstruction to urine flow through the urethra. These devices are constructed using medical grade silicone and are designed for extended implant times. They are soft and flexible, with a smooth outer finish, for ease in application and maintaining cleanliness. They are completely autoclavable for thorough sterilization.

HSP AUS occluders are available in a range of lumen sizes from 4mm to 16mm, and in two cuff widths, 11mm and 14mm. We recommend using these in conjunction with a SQ port. The degree of resistance to flow is adjusted using a subcutaneous access/injection port that is subcutaneously placed on the inner thigh. We recommend using normal saline, hypertonic saline, dextrose solution, sodium hyaluronate or other biocompatible liquids with sufficient density to achieve the desired degree of occlusion.

For your convenience, the Artificial Urethral Sphincter Kits include all items typically used during the medical procedure: Artificial Urethral Sphincter, titanium access port with blue boot to fit the AUS catheter. Huber point needles, surgical suggestions and instructions for use

We also recommend purchasing the reusable backfill infusion flush/fill catheter with your first order of the AUS or the HSO system, as it will make the preparation of the occluder much easier, particularly if this is the first time using this system.

Individual HSP AUS occluders and AUS kits come sterilized.

These devices are for veterinary use only
